Privacy statement

Under review. The Commission is reviewing this statement, including how long complaint and contact records are kept and who may see them. This page will be updated when the review is finished.

What we collect

When you lodge a complaint or contact us through this website we collect your name, email address, phone number (if you provide one) and the details of your enquiry.

Why we collect it

To respond to your enquiry, to investigate complaints under the Telecommunications Act 2009, and to report in aggregate on the state of the telecommunications market. We do not sell your information.

How long we keep it

The Commission is confirming how long it keeps complaint and contact records, including the copies sent by email. This page will give the period once that is decided.

Who can see it

Your details and message are stored by the forms service and sent by email to a Commission staff mailbox.

The Commission is confirming who can see complaint and contact records, including which staff role handles them. This page will list them once that is decided.

Cookies and measurement

This site does not use analytics or advertising trackers. It does not track you across other websites.

This site sets no cookies of its own, and when we checked on 3 November 2026 it served no cookie at all. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, sets a strictly necessary security cookie (__cf_bm) on sites that use its bot protection, to tell visitors from automated traffic. It is not used for tracking or advertising and it expires after 30 minutes without activity. Its other security features, if turned on for this site, can set cookies of their own, such as cf_clearance after a security check and _cfuvid for limiting the rate of requests.

Cloudflare keeps technical logs of requests to this site and its complaint and contact forms, to run and secure them. An entry can record the page requested, the date and time, the response given and its size, whether it came from the cache, your IP address, the browser or app you used, and the country, city and network you connected from. Cloudflare's Workers Logs are turned on for this site and its forms service, and keep what they record for up to 7 days. Cloudflare's sampled traffic statistics are kept for at least 31 days. The Commission is confirming what those logs record for ordinary page visits, and whether any longer record is kept.

When you send a form, the forms service stores a hash of your IP address (a code derived from it), not the address itself, to limit repeated submissions and to record that the form was received. Nothing deletes those hashed records automatically — they stay until someone deletes them — and the Commission is deciding how long to keep them. A hash can still count as personal data.
